Itinerary

08h00    Depart Chiang Mai for Lamphun or Hariphunchai, an ancient Mon Empire, founded in 660 A.D. and the oldest city of the Kingdom. Queen Jamathevee was its first ruler. The remnants of the old fortified city walls and the surrounding moatconstructed in the 16th century are still evident.

08h30    Make a first stop at the principal temple of the province, Wat Prathat Hariphunchai, a Royal Temple built in 897 by a King of Lamphun. The temple is notably with a massive 51m Golden Pagoda enshrines the authentic relic of the Lord Buddha from India. In the same compound there’re Buddha Footprint, Teak Wood Library which houses many ancient Pali Scripts as well as an old Lanna Style Chedi and a huge call-to-prayer Gong.

09h15    Proceed to Lampang province.

10h00    Visit Wat Prathat Lampang Luang, the most spectacular temples in the province, was built on a raised mount formerly parts of city’s fortifications against Myanmese. The huge (Luang) Pagoda contains the revered relic of the Lord Buddha.

10h45    Further the trip to the downtown of Lampang.

11h45    View around the city by car or by a horse-drawn carriage that could be also organized  as an optional tour upon a request.

12h30    Lunch at the local restaurant in Lampang.

13h30    Keep  on travelling to Sri  Satchanalai, a Twin City of Sukhothai, a birth place of high-fired Thai ceramics and an important place in the annals of South East Asian Art.

16h00    Start going around  Sri Satchanalai Historical Park to visit a few important ruin temples inside; Wat Chang Lorm, Wat Naang Phaya and Wat Chedi Jed Taew for instances.

17h00    Drive about half an hour further to Sukhothai.

17h30    Check in at the hotel.

Sukhothai – Historical Park - Phisanulok. (-/L/-)

08h00   After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Sukhothai Historical Park, the 1st capital of Siam found in 12th centuries, is a World Heritage Site as nominated by UNESCO that cover 70 sq. kms with 193 ruins mainly in bricks and laterites.

08h15   Explore by feet viewing temples, royal palaces, Buddha images, ramparts, moats and lakes around the park area.

10h15   Drive a bit further to Wat Si Chum especially to view and revere Phra Achana, a huge Buddha Statue, played very important role to Sukhothai Kings as well as his battle during Sukhothat period.

11h45   Continue to Pitsanulok province.

12h30  Local lunch on route.

13h30   Last stop at Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat or Wat Yai called by local inhabitants, the main temple of Pitsanulok and a home of Phra Buddha Chinnaraj, the most beautiful shiny bronze statue of the country.

14h15   Transfer to Pitsanulok Airport for a departure flight back to Bangkok.
